allochthon left a prompt in my ask and I resisted right up until I saw dr.kara’s piece because ripped jeans yes thx. This is her design, I added a jacket and more hair.Bad Boy Coulson art?
After the interview with Clark Gregg saying that he was a bad boy when he was younger, and after seeing some of the pics around tumblr of a young Clark Gregg, I would dearly love:
Someone with real artistic talent (i.e. not me) to draw Bad Boy Young Coulson. Ripped jeans, black leather jacket, cigarette behind his ear, leaning against a wall in a James Dean pose.
ack forgot the jacket! sorry
OMG … I … I’LL BE IN MY BUNK
Can this be a trend? Please?
I mean… Yes please? Wait til everyone sees Coulson’s mug shot, produced back in December. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!
THIS IS SOME OF THE MOST INCREDIBLE ART/HEADCANON I HAVE EVER SEEN.
AND I AM HERE TO RUIN IT.
LET ME TASTE YOUR TEARS, TUMBLR.
I’d buy them then torrent them. Real art is for everyone.
Really. As opposed to fake art? So, you’re saying, you’d like to contribute to the decline of an industry and a medium? Because let me tell you, that’s a real gem.
It’s nice that you see yourself as a Robin Hood of Real Art. Bravo.
S’cuse me Mandy, you obviously have this under control, but I can’t help but feel like this little faux-anarchist could do with a tag-teaming of ~tumblr justice.
Out of curiosity, who is paying these creators of real art? The pencillers, the inkers, the colorists. The writers, the editors. Do you think that your torrenting of comics just drums up the funds for that? Or do the paychecks that ensure you get your REAL ART come from what consumers pay in order to enjoy this FREE ART?
Going out on a limb, here, but I think it’s that last one. As a purveyor or art, myself, I put out a lot of what I would consider to be ‘free’. But that’s not how I pay my bills. Those who are responsible for creating what YOU have taken on yourself to redistribute for free…they do. Do you know what happens if you go into a retail store, take the products, and walk out without paying for them? They lose money. They lose jobs. They lose livelihoods. Just because you feel like you have the right to freely distribute Real Art, doesn’t mean it’s the right, responsible, or ethical thing to do.
I’m sorry you don’t feel like you should have to pay $4 once a month for the best of the best when it comes to sequential art. I’m sorry you don’t want to pay this pittance to be able read a huge chunk of it in one sitting.
And I’m sorry, motherfucker, when people like you and your Tweenager notions of anarchy and free distribution will be responsible for the collapse of this industry that I assume you love. On behalf of everyone who hopes to have a career in the comics industry, myself included, thank you for minimizing that chance! You should get in your self congratulation right now, before someone else decides to freely redistribute that, as well!
I hope you follow me, and I hope you unfollow after this. I could do to lose a self-important fuck like you. I’ll be watching, d-bag, and if you so much as post a single download link, I’ll be on you like Kieron Gillen on a verbose re-cap page.
I love my comic book store.
I love it to pieces. I have never been to a more welcoming, enjoyable, inclusive, fun place in my life. I’ve seen people of every creed, color, gender and sexuality in there. Gorgeous transgender men and women. Gay men. Gay women. Everything in between. A fantastic, devoted following of autistic kids that love to come in and raid the 25c boxes. People that have been reading and collecting for years, and people that come in the day after seeing a comic book movie, and want to learn more.
Those are the people that make me happiest of all. :)
The first comic book store I went to here was terrible. The owner was rude, dismissive, and insulting. I never wanted to go back into another one. But I love this medium, I passionately love the characters, and I wanted more. So I didn’t let one bad experience change my mind. And I found paradise. I’m not kidding when I say my comic store is my second home. When I’m not working there, I’m hanging out there. Hell, I worked there two hours tonight for free when I was supposed to be on a date with my woman, because it makes me so happy.
I don’t like old comics. I don’t really give a shit that Batman Number Etc is worth X amount of dollars. But if someone does, more power to them! And I love to listen to people passionately tell me how much THEY love it. The history. The weight that comes with these characters.
I’ve talked to a handful of people today that made me want to write this post. I know I have a lot of lovely followers that have never picked up a comic book. As someone who buys weekly single issues, and has done for a long time, I certainly don’t judge you for this. I know how intimidating it is. But I implore you - if you love these characters as much as I do, give it a try. If you are close to Asheville NC, drop in and I will personally take you to pick out a book. PERSONALLY. AND I WILL DRAW YOU SOMETHING AND TAKE YOU OUT TO LUNCH AND PAT YOU ON THE HEAD AS WELL!
I just…god. God. The pleasure that I get from comic books is like a drug. The books, the shows, the movies, the toys, the fans, the fandom, EVERYTHING. And if you feel intimidated, please don’t be afraid. I know not everyone is lucky enough to have a store like mine, but they ARE out there! A lovely store where you can scream in unison about awful costumes, shit treatment of women. A store where the owner not only ships the male characters, but THE MALE CUSTOMERS.
Sorry for the sudden unexpected outburst of feels, but sitting in my beloved store, re-ordering single issues (Damn you people love aquaman o.O) on a silent saturday night, surrounded by so much incredible art and stories and HISTORY I just…ugh. I have to share it.
And my inbox is ALWAYS open if you have any questions, any at all. I will help you go through a story panel by panel if I have to! I know it’s intimidating, my darlings, but the payoff is more than you can imagine.
The movies, the books, the characters…comics are my life, and I hope I can inspire people to open their lives to them as well :)
There was a gifset of Captain Kirk getting covered in Tribbles on my dash.
Followed by a gifset of Coulson deciding between donuts.
…I’m not responsible for what tumblr makes me do.
Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus, eh. Quite a surprise. The Littlest Hemsworth will always be Balder in my mind.
Feel the love.
Dedicated to my superwife.

Okay so I never ever reblog my own shit, but I remember drawing this, and getting all gay over Mary, and I just…really enjoyed making this. And everyone needs more love on their dash. LOVE.
i love everything flatbear ever draws!
So about two years ago, we got crazy snowed in. CRAZY snowed in. I grew up around NO snow, so I still go batshit every time shit starts falling from the sky.
Anyway. On this occasion, I decided to throw a bunch of action figures into a plastic bag, and trunched out into the snow to play like the…
Getting my 2am sketch on. Shitty phone pictures ftw. Jesus, I haven’t drawn on paper in…two+ years.
